THE ELUSIVE, EFFUSIVE TODDLER

Was Dickens talking about photographing toddlers when he penned the oft-quoted line, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times"?  Of course not, but indeed the phrase applies.  I always say that what makes photographing the just under two set challenging is the unpredictability of it all--you are decidedly on their agenda, as if there were a moment's doubt--but that's also what makes them utterly enjoyable.  While you can never be quite sure what's going to happen next (not to mention whether it will happen in that sweet spot of light!), you can rest assured that whatever does happen will be 100% genuine.  They have no concerns about what they "should" be doing in front of the camera and, believe me, that is as much a blessing as it is a challenge.  Just look at the expression of pure joy on P.'s face here.  Do I photograph the most beautiful children and families or what?  I love my job!!! Here's a little sneak peek from this weekend's session. Enjoy, G. family!

A PROMISE FULFILLED

I said there would be cherry blossoms, right?  Well here we go!  The lovely M. family--you might remember them from the blog and main website--took a stroll through the Fairmount Park cherry blossoms this week.  It has been such a privilege watching these fun-loving little guys grow!  Thank you, J. & J.! And because I know mom is blog stalking to see these, let's get on with the sneak peek!  Oh . . . and pssst . . . those of you waiting for my big announcement won't be waiting much longer!  Thanks for your patience as I finalize details!

Love this one . . . look at how the little one is beaming at big brother.  Aww!! Thanks again, M. family!

SNEAK PEEK(ABOO)

I was utterly enchanted by the adorable Miss N. this weekend, and I'm sure you'll have no trouble seeing why.  I just love the pure, honest emotions that the under two set offers.  Thank you, S. and D.  I had a wonderful time photographing N. and wish you all the best in the coming months as you await baby no. 2.  That's right, this sweet little girl is going to be a big sister soon! Such an exciting time. Here's a quick sneak peek of a session where she was still firmly "the star" :)  . . . more to come soon!

Peekaboo!

This one melts my heart:

Love the spirit evident in this shot . . . ready for any adventure!

REMEMBER THIS ONE?

How fun is this? This image from my session with the wonderful K. family last year was selected this week as one of 150 winners to be published in Fresh M.I.L.K.: Friends, Families, Lovers & Laughter, forthcoming this fall. Check out the great history behind the genesis of this competition HERE.

Things have been crazy busy this week, hence the lack of blog activity.  Among other things . . . I've worked on writing projects for other photographers, continued with current portrait client tasks, put the finishing touches on another WordSmith project and--oh yeah--bought a house on Wednesday! Craziness, I tell you!

Finally . . . have you noticed that they're coming?  Of course I mean the cherry blossoms and I adore them so!  I am all atwitter with each passing day and growing bud.  Let's see how many sessions I can squeeze in during prime bloom time.  I'm on a mission to capture adorable children + cherry blossoms, just like last year.  All Saturday sessions in April are filled, but my beyond-reason love of cherry blossoms just might inspire me to take on a few more weekday sessions in the Main Line area. :)

Have a wonderful weekend, all!!
