I was so glad that I was able to photograph D. and P. before their little one makes his or her debut. I was a little worried with all the travel I've been doing lately and the baby's could-be-any-day-now "schedule" but it worked out beautifully.  It was lovely to meet you both, and I can't wait to photograph the newest member of the family soon!

There's no denying it . . . 'tis the season for newborns! And they just keep coming, which is lovely since I adore every last one! Meet sweet little C., 13 days old. Isn't she gorgeous? Mom and Dad were clearly smitten and with good reason.  But don't take my word for it . . . see for yourself! The standard disclaimer applies: prepare yourself to say "awwww!"  Thank you, M. family, and thank you as well to their friend and fellow photographer Melissa Zihlman for connecting us. :)

I just love this little face--not to mention the beautiful bedding! She was so alert and interested in taking everything in. 

And just a little hint of a smile to close. Swoon!

The view from my Las Vegas hotel window, grabbed with a quick snapshot the day I arrived. Funny . . . when I lived in NYC I remember considerably more distance between midtown and the Cyclone. ;) Forgive the fuzziness, point and shoot + hotel room windows do not a stellar image make.

I am back in town at long last and don't even know how to encapsulate the whirlwind that was WPPI. I think instead I will just get back to work clearing out my e-mail in box and preparing for my two upcoming sessions this weekend.  Glad to be back, poor neglected blog!! :)

It's that time of year again . . . off to Las Vegas and WPPI. What happens at WPPI? The more accurate question would be what doesn't happen there.  I get to reconnect with loads of photographer friends (and make new ones), learn from the best in the business, scour the tradeshow floor the the latest-and-greatest goodies for my clients, and attend the private parties that take place after the official events (you know, for when 8am-10pm just isn't enough photography goodness for you ;)).

With that said, Joyce Smith Photography will be closed from February 13th-20th.  Until then, I leave you with a Swingers clip, of course . . . .  

Overheard at this weekend's session: "I can't believe that she's ours." That sweet sentiment, shared between first-time parents, just says it all, doesn't it? Meet sweet baby girl A.  It was so wonderful to meet you, T. family!
